Sparkling Hibiscus Mint Lemonade (Printable)

Vibrant hibiscus and mint lemonade topped with sparkling water, lemon, and honey or agave for a refreshing, fizzy sip.

# What you need:

→ Hibiscus & Mint Base

01 - 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus flowers (or 2 hibiscus tea bags)
02 - 10 fresh mint leaves, plus additional sprigs for garnish
03 - 1/3 cup honey or agave syrup, adjusted to taste
04 - 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 3–4 lemons)
05 - 2 cups cold water

→ Sparkling Finish

06 - 2 cups chilled sparkling water
07 - Lemon slices, for garnish
08 - Ice cubes

# How to make it:

01 - Place dried hibiscus flowers (or tea bags) and mint leaves in a small pitcher or bowl; add 2 cups cold water and steep for 10 minutes, gently muddling the mint to release oils if a more pronounced mint character is desired.
02 - Strain the hibiscus-mint infusion through a fine-mesh strainer into a larger pitcher, pressing gently on solids to extract flavor, then discard the solids.
03 - Stir the honey or agave and the freshly squeezed lemon juice into the warm or room-temperature infusion until fully dissolved and evenly incorporated; taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
04 - Fill serving glasses with ice to chill and portion the concentrate, then pour the hibiscus-mint concentrate to about halfway up each glass.
05 - Top each glass with chilled sparkling water, stir gently to combine and integrate the concentrate without flattening the bubbles.
06 - Garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint sprigs and serve immediately for optimal effervescence.

# Helpful Hints:

01 -
  • It tastes like a vacation without any planning or airport lines.
  • The color alone sparks conversation and excuses to serve another round.
02 -
  • If you try to speed up steeping with hot water, the mint turns muddy and loses its spark.
  • Letting the hibiscus and mint sit just a bit longer in the fridge makes the color an even deeper pink and the flavor more layered.
03 -
  • Steep the hibiscus and mint base in advance for the richest flavor and vibrant color.
  • If you find the drink too tart, adding just a dash more honey or a splash of juice balances it beautifully.
