Quick Margherita Naan Pizza (Printable)

A speedy flatbread with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil on a crisp naan base.

# What you need:

→ Base

01 - 2 large plain or garlic naan breads

→ Sauce

02 - 1/2 cup tomato passata or pizza sauce
03 - 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
04 - 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
05 - 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

06 - 4.5 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced
07 - 1 medium ripe tomato, thinly sliced
08 - 8 to 10 fresh basil leaves
09 - 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

# How to make it:

01 - Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Place the naan breads onto the prepared baking sheet.
03 - Combine tomato passata, dried oregano, sea salt, and black pepper in a small bowl and stir well.
04 - Spread the sauce evenly over each naan, leaving a small border around the edges.
05 - Distribute mozzarella slices and tomato slices evenly over the sauced naan breads.
06 - Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbling and the edges of the naan turn golden brown.
07 - Remove from oven, drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, and scatter fresh basil leaves on top. Slice and serve immediately.

# Helpful Hints:

01 -
  • It transforms a humble flatbread into restaurant-quality pizza in less time than ordering would take.
  • Fresh mozzarella and basil keep it light and bright, never heavy or heavy-handed.
  • You get that perfect textural contrast—crispy edges meeting chewy insides—without any of the usual fuss.
02 -
  • Basil turns black and tastes bitter if it bakes with the pizza, so add it only at the end when the heat is already fading.
  • Don't skimp on sauce spreading—under-sauced naan tastes dry and one-dimensional, but you can't fix it once it's baked.
03 -
  • If you have leftover naan pizza, reheat it in a 180°C oven for 3 to 4 minutes rather than the microwave—the crust stays crisp instead of turning into bread.
  • Make the sauce component ahead and keep it in the fridge; you can go from zero to table in under 10 minutes if the prep work is already done.
