Oreo Mug Chocolate Cake (Printable)

A rich, fudgy chocolate cake made with Oreo crumbs and milk, cooked quickly in the microwave.

# What you need:

→ Base

01 - 4 Oreo cookies
02 - 3 tablespoons milk (whole, 2%, or plant-based)

→ Optional Add-Ins

03 - 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
04 - 1 teaspoon sugar
05 - 1 tablespoon chocolate chips

→ Topping (optional)

06 - Whipped cream, chocolate syrup, or extra crushed Oreos

# How to make it:

01 - Place Oreo cookies in a microwave-safe mug and crush thoroughly using a fork or spoon until fine crumbs form.
02 - Add milk to the mug and mix well until a smooth, thick batter is formed.
03 - If desired, stir in baking powder and sugar to enhance lightness and sweetness, then fold in chocolate chips for added richness.
04 - Microwave on high for 60 to 90 seconds until the cake has risen and set but remains moist in the center; adjust time based on microwave wattage.
05 - Allow to cool for one minute before enjoying. Optionally, garnish with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, or extra crushed Oreos.

# Helpful Hints:

01 -
  • It comes together in under five minutes with stuff you probably have in the pantry right now
  • The texture is somewhere between a brownie and a molten lava cake, which is somehow better than either
02 -
  • Every microwave is different, so start with 1 minute and add 10 second increments if the center still looks wet
  • The cake continues cooking for a few seconds after you take it out, so underdone is better than overdone
03 -
  • Use a mug with a wide mouth so the cake cooks evenly instead of staying raw in the center
  • Crush the cookies into the finest crumbs you can manage because big chunks leave weird dry spots in the finished cake
